No More Stinking Water #5DaysInMay

This picture was taken at 9:00 am and my friend @jerryminer knew that when he took it this would be the last time this little boy had to drink this stinking water.

This picture was taken later that day.

The average American drinks 420 ounces of canned soft drinks a week.
My average friend goes to Starbucks 3 times a week.
I drink at least one fountain drink every day.

What does that cost for 5 Days?

30 cans of soda = $15.00
3 trips to Starbucks = $10.00
5 fountain drink = $8.75

$43.75 could give 5 people clean drinking water for the rest of their lives.

What if we all did it?
Drank Water to Give Water?
What if for 5 days we could get 600 of our friends to join in?
That would mean an entire community of 3000 people would have clean drinking water for the rest of their lives.

    Cool idea.

But, typo: “The average American drinks 420 ounces of canned soft drinks a day.” I think you mean per week. 420 ounces per day would be 35 cans of pop per day. Yikes! ;-)

Shawn – Thanks so very much! This is the excitement that I love to see from Christ followers! There is so much talent in the body – if we can bring it together like this- all of will get a chance to share in the amazing things that God is doing. I get to see miracles like these pictures above almost every day! The need is huge – but we do have real and sustainable solutions. We can stop death and disease due to unsafe water AND we can proclaim the living water message of Jesus Christ in the communities we touch.
Blessings to everyone who joins in this cause!

Thanks Kevin – I got that fixed. That would be one heck of a pop bender!

    Shawn,

Don & I just got back from two weeks in Haiti with Water Missions Intl. We saw kids drinking out of stagnant market ditch water, out of troughs where animals drank, out of filthy dirty rivers.

We went to Desdunes and replaced a broken pump drawing water out of a rice irrigation ditch and becoming pure water after running through a Living Water Treatment System by WMI. The pump had been down down two days and they were already having nausea, vomiting, etc. We do have solutions to this problem, now need the funds and backing to suply sustainable water systems to the world.

What can you get at Starbucks 3/10? I never get out of there for less than $4.50. Can’t wait to do the 5 days in May. WMI rocks.
