Put action to your dream

2.01.2010 | Blog

I have heard it said that a goal with no deadline is simply a day-dream.  day-dreams are  ok at first , but become useless, discouraging and destructive to your creativity if you never act on any of them.  Dont day-dream but instead put action to your dream.

1.  Evaluate the dream.  Is this something that is worth you putting a deadline on.  If not ditch it to a “someday/maybe” folder and get it out of your system.

2.  Empower the dream.  This one is hard, but if your dream is important enough and something that is worth doing ask the hard question, “Am I the best person to do this?”  “Do I have the margin?”, “Do I have the skill?” – if the answers point to empowering someone else – take that action.

3.  Execute your dream.  Put a date on it and prioritize time everyday to make a next step toward this dream.

We make this a lot harder than it is.  Most of the time our dreams are not seen to fruition because we simply lack the courage to put a date on it, give it away or do it ourselves.  But the simple yet amazing truth is that if we will do something toward our dream everyday we will make progress.  Even more simple yet true is the fact that if we don’t do anything nothing will happen except day dreaming.
